Brief Post-Operative Instructions
Bed rest for 24 hours.
Report any drug reaction promptly: rash, fever, nausea,
vomiting.
Report any excessive swelling or excessive pain immediately.
Call the office the morning after surgery to report your condition and
to make your post-operative appointment (10-14
days).
No driving for 4 days or until advised by the doctor.
You may shower after the first 24 hours, but Do Not Bathe until you
are seen by the doctor.
Expect to feel swollen and
distended which is normal and due to the
swelling in the tissue after fat removal.
Wear the girdle provided 24 hours a day. It can, of course, be removed
for washing or showering, but should not be
left off for more than one
hour per day. Be sure to sleep in it at night.
No heavy lifting or bending over. When reaching below you, bend at
the knees, keeping your back straight. Limit the use
of stairs as
much as possible during the first week. If you must use stairs, take
them slowly.
Your result should be obvious after a period of two to three weeks and
expect the swelling and retracting
of the skin to continually improve for
a period of four to six months. Remember, everyone is different and
swelling reduces more quickly in some
people than in others. |
